Before facing a real battle, Lupelius’ s monk-warriors had to put their Integrity, their impeccability to the test. They drew aside in solitary places, remaining still in a state of suspension, of pure contemplation in order to enter into the most obscure corners of their own Beings.

In those few moments of silence, their enemy would appear from nothing in all his cruelty, and only then did the real battle take place.
